Charlotte Cannon's music hints at old jazz artists like Eartha Kitt and Nina Simone; evocative and sultry. While also bathed in the idiosyncrasy and outlandishness of artists like Tom Waits and Bjork.
However, you can try to pick and pull out comparisons to other artists, but she is really an artist of her own...take a listen above and hear for yourself.
Charlotte Cannon grew up in a creative household with a father as a playwright, older brother as an actor, older sister as a ballerina and twin brother as another musician. Inundated with artsy malarkey she began writing songs as a young cherub at thirteen years old.
She grew up listening to all sorts from David Bowie to the Sex Pistols. However, it was Jazz that really began to perk her ears the most. She'd be shoulder shimmying to the likes of Nina Simone, Tom Waits, Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong.
Charlotte has had lots of exciting things happen to her this year: being played and interviewed on BBC Introducing Lancashire, performing in Amsterdam, performing for Sofar Sounds Sheffield, being featured on the BIMM album, being interviewed and performing on TV, currently working with producer Bill Ryder-Jones (The Coral) and lots more tomfoolery
